The sole base of jute is built using traditional techniques, with a natural rubber outsole for grip and durability, and an insole with a soft, cushioning natural latex base covered in vegetable-tanned leather. 

Abarca makes its espadrilles by hand in Murcia, Spain. All the materials used are organic, and they are mostly sourced from local producers for the smallest possible carbon footprint. It also allows them to have very strict quality requirements for their materials. Abarca's sustainable approach has made them famous around the world, where you can find them at over 400 retailers.

Use Saphir Medaille d'Or Super Invulner for waterproofing (protection against moist and dirt), and brush off with a shoe brush after use to remove dirt from the canvas upper and jute sole. If more thorough cleaning is required, use Saphir Medaille d'Or Omninettoyant.
